She Rose

 Moving Arts Collective dit:

She Rose celebrates the connection between body, language, and landscape. It welcomes everyone, with or without a background in dance, to weave a thread, by way of their bodies, with Jèrriais. She Rose invites Jersey residents to join Sioned Huws, an internationally renowned Welsh dancer and choreographer, along with the singing bodies of two Breton singers Sterenn Diridollou and Marine Lavigne, and Azenor Kallag, a Breton dancer, in creating a collective dance. We would love you to join and perform with us. 

 

Sioned invited the Breton singers and dancers to work with her towards a dance that aims to trace back Jèrriais in our dancing bodies. Breton dance serves as both a guide and a metaphor—a thread that holds together the edges of landscape, language, and the body. The choreography is not predetermined; instead, it emerges from the collective spirit of those who respond to the invitation, weaving and unweaving its own form. Little fingers link one person to another, embodying the limitless possibilities of a living language.

There are workshops/rehearsals which you can join ( optional but fun!) and two performances. If you’re able to join at least one rehearsal and one performance , we can together form the structure for this spontaneous dance. Below is a schedule of all the rehearsals and performances : 

 

Schedule Overview:
• Dance Workshops at The Square @Cyril Le Marquand Court (outside Jersey Arts Centre)

• Thursday 1 May (12-2pm or 6-8pm)

• Friday 2 May( 12-2 pm)

• Performances:

Friday 2 May, 6pm @Cyril Le Marquand Court
Saturday 3 May, 3pm (30 mins performance at Le Pinacle, Les Landes) - There will be a rehearsal in the earlier in the day for this second performance
