Les Fieillets.
Septembre 2012
Salutâtions tout l’monde. Beinv’nu à s’tembre! Thank you to those who were able to attend the August meeting where a brief review was on the agenda.
We have two items to report, the first is the use of Jèrriais in an unusual place two months ago, namely, nautical terms have been engraved in the floor of the Foyer of one of the new apartment blocks overlooking the Elizabeth Marina. They are named Millais and Le Capelain, despite their lack of architectural artistry, and we will copy the terms as soon as possible, maybe too late for consideration for a Crapaud d’Or.
The second is a late publicity shot for Badlabecques, a recently formed 8-piece pop folk band which sings songs in Jèrriais under the leadership of Kit Ashton. They performed this summer and although are always in contact with L’Office du Jèrriais, they need as much support as possible. To find out more, log on to …Badlabecques…. and read the listed items for the latest information on their album and disc(s) to date.
Our next meeting is on Wed. 5th Sept. at 8.00pm in the AM Room when there will be any necessary discussion on the Fête in Dgèrnésey, the Eisteddfod and our literature filing.
