If I were truly cynical, I would ask who decided to film such an historic event in front of a building voted the ugliest of the year, a while ago!!

Thank you to those who attended last month’s meeting to continue our steady progress.
At present the sunshine has been with us a few days, but too late for the West Show, which despite the atrocious continuous rain, was staged with great success, the organisers managing to freight in vast amounts of shredded wood to prevent quagmires developing.

Aside from seeing the ‘Dancing JCBs’ cope with the soft conditions, it was wonderful to see the youngsters doing their cycle rally and the horse riders racing across the grass with mud flying. Sunday was a drier day and people turned out again to support the event.

Meanwhile in one of the marquees, Jèrriais was presented on two fronts with a display and sales of Section publications on La Société Jersiaise stand and a fine, comprehensive coverage of resources and publications on L’Office du Jèrriais stand.
Further afield, the Section was represented at La Fête des Remparts by the resident evil Knight, his Lady and his Écuyer/Page. It was magnificent again and a fair chance to publicise the island and its language via the ‘blazons’ we’d put on our costumes.

The next meeting will be held on Wed. 1st August at 8.00pm in the AM Room at La Société to continue the work in progress, maybe some composition and/or a vocabulary game.
