Coumme nou sait, lé changement fait du bein. Et pouor les préchains dgiêx mots, nou-s a décidé d'calengi l's auteurs et l's êtudgiants auve eune belle dgiêxaine: huit mots ordinnaithes et deux mots extraordinnaithes. Ch'est pouor les Nouvelles Chroniques dé Noué et don y'a du temps pouor y penser, et j'nos n'allons bliodgi châtchun des dgiêx mots.

A change is as good as a rest, they say. And so it is that the regular 10 word challenge has been tweaked slightly to incorporate two unusual words along with the usual flexible choice of words. There's plenty of time to get thinking about what to write - the 10 word challenge will be featuring in the Christmas issue of Les Nouvelles Chroniques du Don Balleine (deadline: Halloween). We'll be taking a closer look at each of the ten words on the blog and exploring their meanings and possibilities.

Efteråt åkte vi också och lyssnade på en liten presentation om Jérriais, av Tony Scott Warren, som var en av de få personer som kan språket.

L'Office du Jèrriais was recently visited by some Swedish-speaking students from Åland.

Un bachîn en argent en minniatuthe auve l'êtchusson d'Jèrri et eune înscription s'sa env'yé à Londres - auve eune p'tite explyicâtion dé tch'est qu'ch'est qu'un bachîn.

Although a charity appeal has been launched to respect the Royal couple's wish for donations in lieu of gifts, Jersey is also sending a small physical token to Price William and Kate Middleton in the form of a sterling silver miniature engraved bachîn, accompanied by an explanation of the cultural significance of the bachîn in Jersey culture.

Lé Prînce Ouiyamme et la Dlle Cat'linne Middleton ont annonchi lus chouaix d'cantiques pouor lus neuches.
Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton are pleased to announce the music for their Wedding Service.

Prince William and Miss Middleton have chosen three hymns for the Service: ‘Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer’, words by William Williams, translated by Peter Williams and others, and music by John Hughes. The second will be ‘Love Divine All Love Excelling’, words by Charles Wesley and music by William Penfro Rowlands. The third will be ‘Jerusalem’, by Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, words by William Blake. All three hymns have been chosen because they are favourites of the Couple.
