In June 1911 the local newspaper of Fougères (in Brittany) published an account of a visit to Jersey with comments on agriculture, shopping, culture and customs. One of the customs of the Island that struck the writer was the casual and general use of the tu form of address, as described in this extract. The whole article was reprinted in the Chronique de Jersey.
