Languagehat blog on Jèrriais revival

Language blogger Languagehat has blogged about the recent AFP media coverage of L'Office du Jèrriais and community actions for the revival of Jèrriais: "Jerriais Revival", referred back to discussion about Jèrriais in 2010 and said that this blog is "still going strong". Mèrcie bein des fais!

As regular readers may have noticed, this blog has evolved over the years (as has L'Office du Jèrriais) with the shorter topical posts now generally happening over on Twitter and Facebook, with the blog now providing a platform for making available longer pieces.

The pandemic has forced people to find things they can do from home, and restricted the number of festivals, drop-ins, social events. Consequently, we have been able to accommodate the desire of a number of volunteers to help out by transcribing Jèrriais texts by C20th writers, and making them available online (which has also helped lexicography by increasing the digital corpus).

Since 2010, L'Office du Jèrriais has expanded to adapt to government language strategy in education and promotion.
