La Faîs'sie d'Cidre

Faîs'sie d'Cidre 2010A successful and warm weekend over. At Hamptonne, the stall was visited by Jersey people, both Jèrriais speakers and non Jèrriais speakers, and an international crowd. The poetry and singing was kept lubricated by l'pur jus, sales were made, questions were answered and information given out to young and old.

All this week, Jèrriais poetry continues in Town - posters are up, and Jèrriais will be recited daily (weather permitting) at selected spots between 4.30-5.15pm approximately. And, you never know, this poem fresh off the (cider-) press today might just find a place in the repertoire.

La Faîs'sie d'Cidre 2010

Les vêpres dgêpent sus l'nièr beurre et la g'lée d'pommes;
lé bieau solé d'Octobre caûffe les muthâles;
les vîsiteurs à êss'mer, nou les somme
atout la boul'lie d'la meule, ouôth-en-châle.

Nou rôtit des châtaines; nou d'bite du lard;
les fliambes en font eune fouée à enfuntchi;
du pain auve eune modgie - nou couoche lé mar,
et les vêpres font des vars ensolilyis.

La feunmée fliotte et feunque et crouaîse lé bel;
Dans l'gardîn, sus la bliête, nou-s'est à tcheûrre;
les mèrvelles fliottent à bouoilli dans dé l'hielle;
les vêpres dgêpent sus la g'lée d'pommes et l'nièr beurre.
