Bouanne Séthée d'Burns!

Bouanne Séthée d'Burns!

Happy Burns Night!

Robert Burns, poet in Scots, was born on this day, and every year there are Burns Night suppers with haggis and celebrations of his poetry. As part of the Romantic national revival movement across Europe, Burns was influential not only in his home country, but inspired writers elsewhere to develop their national literatures. This was also the situation in Jersey, where writers involved in the Jèrriais literary revival of the C19th translated Burns. Among those were Philippe Langlois, and here is his version of "Ye banks and braes o' bonnie Doon"
