Du Milk-é-Pan'tch

Milk-é-Pan'tch

Caûffez douochement l'lait - i' dait êt' tchiède coumme s'nou-s'avait justément trait sa vaque!

Milk-é-Pan'tch was a drink traditionally made at the beginning of May (1st Sunday) in Town or elswhere in Jersey at mid-Summer. Young folk would steal (beg, or "borrow") milk fresh from the cow, eggs freshly laid from a henhouse, and with some sugar, nutmeg and rum (or other spirit) sit out on the côtils, dressed in white, to welcome the Summer with this heady drink.
