Badlabecques Reveal New Date for Album Launch in November

Jèrriais-singing pop-folk band Badlabecques have announced a new date for the long-awaited launch of their new album ‘Cocolîncheux!’. It will take place on Saturday 11th November 2017, at the unique venue of The Lido, Havre des Pas.

The band were originally due to release their latest album at the Jersey Arts Centre in April this year, but after months of preparations, and a successful crowdfunding campaign, they were forced to delay the record after being initially denied copyright permission for one of the songs. That song was a cover version of The Beatles’ hit ‘With a Little Help from my Friends’ featuring Les Amis Choir. However, after a JEP article about the issue, an unknown person at music publishing company Sony ATV decided to reverse their stance and allow the song to be released.

Things took a further twist when the band then had to find a new venue for the album launch – The Jersey Arts Centre had booked the original launch, and had generously offered to simply postpone the date, but unfortunately Badlabecques could not commit to any of their remaining available dates in 2017.

Thankfully the new management of The Lido were keen to support and a date has now been found. Kit Ashton, lead singer and founder of Badlabecques said:

“Well it’s been a bit more of an adventure getting to this stage than we might have imagined but we’re so glad to have finally finished the album and have a plan to release it. We’re really grateful to The Jersey Arts Centre for their understanding and supportive position and we’re keen to play there again in the future.”

But Badlabecques are also glad to be launching at The Lido in Havre des Pas. Kit said: “The Lido is a really unique and charming local gem, so to launch this album there is really exciting. It also really fits with our ethos of updating Jersey culture and tradition, and creatively re-working the past in new ways for new times. V'là tch'est bein!”

Tickets are now on sale at www.badlabecques.net
