Toute la Pêque a 'té pêtchie! - "The whole catch" has been fished up!

The new series of simple Jèrriais picture books, "Toute la Pêque", will start to be distributed in schools on European Day of Languages, 26 September. The series of six colourful books has integrated Jèrriais text (parallel English texts can be read alongside) and tells short stories about landmarks around Jersey: La Corbière lighthouse, La Hougue Bie, the airport control tower, a mast at Les Platons, Mont Orgueil and a crane at Saint Helier Harbour. Each landmark has its own personality.

To mark European Day of Languages, held across Europe every year in September, Le Don Balleine is giving a set of the books to Jersey schools. From the end of this week the books will also be on sale to the public, and to mark this weekend's Fête des Normands - a Normandy-wide celebration of Norman identity and culture - as well as Jersey's own commemoration of the events of 28 September 1769, readings of the books will be held at La Société Jersiaise at 2.30pm on Saturday 28 September.
