Il est sorti : le CD excellent de Yannick Bonnissent "Eune teurque" : dix poèmes de Côtis-Capel mis en musique avec une grande sensibilité et chantés par Yannick, eun gâs de Gréville-Hague qu'a de l'assent !
Il s'accompagne à la guitare, entouré d'arrangements soignés : violoncelle, flûte, harmonica, percussions,... Une musique contemporaine au service d'une poésie intimiste, le tout mins dauns la bouête par Jojo Travers - Les Albert's Studio. Un beau texte en français, hommage à Côtis-Capel, clôt le CD.
Près de 300 spectateurs l'ont applaudi les 21 et 22 mai à Gréville : un concert émouvant au pays d'Albert Lohier (Côtis-Capel), en présence de la famille Lohier-Godey, de Charles Cerisier, de Jacques Jean et de l'équipe de Magène.

La Section de la langue Jèrriaise
Salutâtions tout l’monde. Thank you to those who attended last month’s meeting. We were pleased that some of us could attend L'Assembliée’s meeting and contribute some readings and to continue with filing the literature collection in the neutral transparent envelopes. The poetry reading in between the films at the Assembliée meeting went without incident with Geraint choosing a selection to read.
There have been no glaring errors come to our ears or eyes this month, but rumour has it that Geraint possibly advised Time Team on the language situation pertaining in Jersey during the time of Mont Orgueil’s use.
There being no other business to report until after La Fête Nouormande, our next meeting will be on Wednesday next, June 2nd. at 8.00pm in the Arthur Mourant room at Pier Road when we should be able to continue sorting and filing the literature collection.

The next issue of Les Nouvelles Chroniques du Don Balleine has gone to press. The theme of the forthcoming issue is education - there's some history, some memories, some responses to a questionnaire by students in Jèrriais classes, a picture quiz, and even some philosophical musings from Guernsey.

I' chantitent "Y'a un soudard au châté, au châté" et èrcititent "L'Èrnouvé" par FMH et "Houras pouor nos Billes" par GJ, et bein méthitaient l'applaudissement dé l'audiènche.
On Liberation Day, five girls from St. Lawrence School gave an extremely good presentation to the parishioners. They sang a song and recited two poems, and certainly merited the applause of the audience.

The Story of "Occupation Theatre"
...Many tales could be told by those who came in contact with the German censor. Exception was taken to most innocent remarks in some of the scripts, while obvious ones were passed unnoticed. It did not necessarily follow that what the Germans had cut would always remain so, and, according to the nature of the news at the time, many observations were quietly inserted to raise a smile. Very few Germans attended the shows and it was fairly easy to get away with it. A most glaring example was a play in Jersey-French given in one of the parish halls which was as patriotic as could possibly be, and though on this occasion a few Germans who were stationed nearby attended the performance the patois had them "fixed" and they could not understand a word!

At the Family Communion service at the Town Church on Sunday 2nd May, the entire congregation sang one verse in Jèrriais of the hymn "We are marching in the light of God"
