Eune Hînprovisâtion

Eune vèrsion modèrnîsée d'chutte poésie.

Here's a version in modernised spelling of a poem by Jean Dorey (although there has in the past been some argument about the authorship) making fun of the Channel Islanders in turn (but especially our four-legged Guernsey cousins!)

EUNE HÎNPROVISÂTION
SATIRIQUE ET FARCICO-CONMIQUE SUS LES DIVÈRS NÂTIONNAUX D'LA MANCHE.

Lé JÈRRIAIS couort quand i' veurt donner assistance,
Dgèrnésiais lève touos ses dgéthets quand i' danse,*
L'Aur'gnais acate ordinnaithement quand i' dêpense,
Sèrtchais bait un vèrre quand il en a la chance,
L'Hèrmais est hardi court dé pé quand nou l'offense,
Et lé
Jéthouais s'en souveint bein quand il y pense!!!

UN NIOLEUX

* Qué nos vaîsîns aient quat' dgéthets,
Ou même qu'i' crient "Hi-hans!"
J'voudrais saver tch'est qu'il en est,
Pourvé qu'i' saient d'braves gens.
